DiCE currently pursues research in four primary areas:
- Data analytics (via wearable sensors, MEMS sensors, EMG Biomechanics, …) and machine learning for safety, health, and productivity improvement in construction.
- Automation and robotics (i.e., UAV/drones, robots) for sustainability, resiliency, and energy efficiency of the built environment and civil infrastructure.
- Simulation and visualization of engineering processes through process mining and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Technology-based education for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) major students and training for the construction workforce.
