Reza Akhavian, Ph.D.

Short Bio

Dr. Reza Akhavian is an educator, researcher, and industry consultant. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at San Diego State University. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (with Construction Engineering and Management concentration) from the University of Central Florida (UCF). He also holds an M.S. (UCF, 2012) and a B.S. (University of Tehran, 2010) in Civil Engineering. He has more than 40 articles published in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He also serves as a member of the editorial board of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Journal of Construction Engineering and Management (JCEM), Elsevier Advanced Engineering Informatics, and Advances in Civil Engineering. Prior to joining SDSU, he was an Assistant Professor at the California State University East Bay. Dr. Akhavian is the recipient of a number of honors and awards including the NSF CAREER Award, the ASCE Construction Institute (CI) Outstanding Young Professional Award, and the ENR California Top 20 Under 40.
